Where does the time go?

To say that I've been busy the last few weeks would be a lie, preoccupied would be a better word for it. My job was getting completely unbearable, when you come home from work everyday crying, you know it's time for a change. So I quit my job. I had a couple of things loosely lined up, both of which fell through. So the last few weeks I've been enjoying some time off and spending time with Riley before he went back to school. Now, it's time to really start looking for work. This is a horrible time to be looking for a job as I'm sure everyone knows, but I've always managed to make it work, so I'm hopeful that something will come through. I saw a sign at McDonald's, they're hiring, so if all else fails I'll just go sling some burgers for awhile, I'm not above all that.
I got out to ride a bit today, it felt so good, it's been a couple of weeks. I need to get out more, and that is going to be my priority, well, right under finding a job.
Some good news.....after reading Dean's post "Calling All Women Riders" I decided to check out the website that he provided for Diva Customs. Tami Walker, the owner of Diva Customs, is writing a book and looking for short paragraphs from women about why they ride. I decided to send her an email, it's hard to put into a paragraph the reasons why I decided to ride my own, but I did my best. After I sent the email I didn't expect much, as I was sure there would be more compelling stories than mine. The very next day I received an email from Tami. I was impressed that the email came so quickly, but mostly because it wasn't some generic email, it was a personal email with a nice experience from her own life that I could relate to. Tami said she will definitely use my story in her book, which she expects to be out in the spring. I'm very excited. I look forward to reading her book, not just because I'm going to be in it, but because I love hearing experiences from all riders, especially women. Also because, after finding out more about Tami and her business, I think she is a pretty amazing woman. She is a woman who definitely went after what she believed in, and she's making it work. We can all learn lessons from people like her.
I hope all of you are well, and I'm going to try now to go and get caught up on every one's blogs. I have been neglectful of my reading and feel like I'm out of the loop. I'm sure I have some good reading to look forward to so, until next time......

Good Luck on the job hunt. You should be able to find something out there. (No matter how much worse the economy gets)people will always need something, somewhere.
Keep riding and stay safe

Sorry that you had to quit your job but nobody should cry over their job. I'm sure something else will come along soon.

I'm glad you were able to hook up with Tami. She certainly is an amazing woman. I'm looking forward to reading about you in her book.

I'm glad you quit your job. I've had jobs where I come home crying every day, and I didn't quit. It took it's toll on me, that's for sure. Good luck in the job hunt. It's bad everywhere right now, but I'm sure you'll find something right when you need it. :)

Can't wait to read about you in Tami's book! Glad you sent in your story!

Remind me to never make you cry. LOL! Times are tough, but I think this is all a good thing for some reason. I'm getting back to what made me, well...me, in the process. I'm gonna look back and tell my kids how I survived the great depression of 2009.

BB,
Jobs come and go, but sanity can only be found while riding. So, ride and a job will find you in due time.

One door closes while another one opens. Dave is right... things happen for the best, and the new job you seek will be a gem. Riding is the best way, in my opinion, to energize yourself for the task at hand. Giving yourself some "road therapy" was your best medicine!

Good Luck!

It's funny but I've actually caught myself bumming out a few times about losing my job because I got hurt. It was a good, secure, hard-to-find type gig. The trade off was the pay wasn't great and the boss was far and way the Chief Engineer on the Asshole Express.

I didn't come home crying, but I was REALLY stressed out. Although I don't mention it at the beginning of my blog, another great thing about getting my first Harley back in July of 07 was having it as a relief valve. Otherwise, I think I may have ended up on top of a water tower with a goddamned M-16!

So, when I bum out about it, I catch myself and remember the misery from the boss that ruined what should've been a great job. When I think of that, I'm glad I'm out of there. Sure, I worry about the uncertainty ahead, and I miss some of the guys I worked with, but I don't miss the stress.

This is my real long way of saying good for you. It takes a lot of courage to quit a job in this economy when you don't have another one lined up to go to. Sometimes mental health is worth more than money.

Because you're a fighter, I know you'll be ok. Good luck to you, and as far as your former employers go...fuck 'em!!!

B.B. I just came back to say, that I'm also going to be included in Tami's book. I just received my email from her this morning, asking for my permission to use my story.

Gee girl, we'll be published! Too bad for free, but it's a start. Can't wait to see the book.

That's awesome Lady R! Wouldn't it be great if we could get all our female riding bloggers in her book?!

Find a sugar daddy and put dave on the street corner! Work sucks! Make other people take care of you for once. Nice to see you back...and seriously, good luck!

Thanks all for the encouraging words. I know everything will work out exactly the way it's supposed to.

Lady R.- Congrats! It's very exciting just to be able to share our experiences isn't it? And when I think of all the people who have encouraged me to ride, I just hope I can give someone else the same.

And yes, thanks again Dean for letting us know about Tami!
