A Tale of Two Mice

Okay, this is a fluff piece, but it's something I wanted to share.
Most of you know that I have a snake named Rex. The other night I went to buy two mice to feed Rex. I put the first mouse in and Rex ate him as normal. I put the second mouse in and Rex didn't seem at all interested in him. After a minute they just started sniffing each other and then that was it. For whatever reason Rex was giving this particular mouse a pardon.
What to do now. I couldn't just kill the poor little mouse. It's one thing to let the snake eat him so he can survive, but it's another thing just to kill the poor little mouse for no reason. Should we let him go? I didn't feel good about the either, he was born in captivity, how would he survive out in the wild?
Okay, I know some of you may not see my conundrum here, it would be pretty simple for most people, I guess, but I'm not most people. So....we now have a pet mouse named Pardon. And you know what? He is so cute, and very entertaining to watch. Dave and I sat for quite a while last night just watching him run around in his little wheel. He's so cool in fact, that this week I'm going to go and get him a friend.
I will post pictures later for those who might be interested in seeing our little rodents. :)

You are too funny. What I know of snakes is Rex would have eatin the mouse in a few days. Whats your son think of Pardon? And are you for sure getting him a friend named Precious?

Call me jaded, but in the real world those who are pardoned can't live outside of their life's work. Therefore a pardon is only a temporary stay until the ultimate journey is complete.

Rex will be hungry on a cold, dreary evening and Pardon will be an easy option. Ahhhhh, the circle of life continues. That is his purpose in life.

Webster- Yes, I'm sure that Rex would've eaten him in a few days, but the attatchment would already have formed. :)
My son loves Pardon, he's happy to have another pet. And yes, we are going to get a friend, but Dave wants to name the next one Ralph...so it can ride a motorcycle.

Fasthair- Hey, that would be funny! Merry Christmas to you too!

AHD- Ah yes, Rex will be hungry again, but I think I'm going to have to switch to frozen mice now! Pardon's purpose has been forever changed.

I let my cats read your post and they all think you’re crazy. They want to know if they can visit Pardon.

BB, I would have the same problem. Fortunately for me, I do not have a snake. :)

Please post pics of Pardon. :)

What a funny little story. Maybe you should hold auditions for Pardons new friend. If you buy Rex's meals two at a time... sooner or later he is going to "pardon" another. LOL!

a certain relative (or two) of mine would have frozen him for rex's dessert instead, lol. i love what you did for pardon... :)

Willy- No, your cats are expressly forbidden from visiting my sweet rodent friends!

Ann- I will post pics soon! We got Pardon a friend, and they are both so cute!

Lady R- Yeah, that's why I'm going to switch to frozen mice instead, otherwise I may end up with a whole litter of mice.

MQ- Yeah, I know, that was an option, but I just didn't have it in me...plus there was just something special about the little guy!

Isn't it funny how pets just seem to appear in your life? You don't plan on them, but somehow they just show up!

Cute! I wouldn't have been able to kill the little thing either. Did you get the friend and what did you name it?

Happy New Year!! Hope to see you and Dave on the road!!

Steph,
We got the friend, and we named him Ralph, but he didn't make it. He died yesterday, we aren't sure why. :( But Pardon is doing well.

happy new year!

Those little mice can be amusing and they learn fast and are great problem solvers.

Maybe Pardon killed him by telling him about the snake.
I heard that Willy D's cats sent a letter asking for a Pardon.
