My first solo ride

Today is a beautiful day! It's about 70 degrees outside with no clouds in the sky. A perfect day for riding. Dave is working at the shop so I decided to take my baby out to come down and see him. This is the first time I've gone out on my own. I was a little bit nervous but it's only a few blocks away and I've ridden over here so many times with Dave that I knew I could do it.
I pulled out of the driveway with a feeling of excitement. As I pulled onto the street and really got going I had a decision to make. I could take the back way through the neighborhoods or I could head out to the main street and cruise all the way downtown. I opted for the main street. It was awesome! What a feeling of accomplishment. Willy D. has been telling me ever since I got my bike that I should take her out for a solo ride, but I didn't feel ready until today.
When I walked into the shop Dave smiled, and then got a proud look on his face when he realized I was wearing my riding gear. I was beaming as I said, "I rode all by myself." I feel like a little kid who just realized they can do something without the help of mom or dad.
Every time I ride I think about how far I've come since the day I first decided I wanted to ride. I remember the first day in the Harley Davidson parking lot and wondering if I was ever going to get my feet off the ground and if I would ever feel comfortable, and wondering if I had done the right thing buying a bike. I still have a long way to go, but I did get my feet off the ground, I do feel comfortable, and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I did the right thing getting my bike.
Now only one more decision for the day....do I want to go home, or do I want to see where else the road might take me today?.............................

Way to go! This is what it's all about!

I think I know the answer to your question. I think you do too!

I'm guessing that will be tomorrow's post.

Aahhh a cliff hanger!

Congrats! That's awesome! Can't wait to see where else the solo road takes you.
(Pssst! Don't tell Dave but you don't always need him following you around anyway!)

You go girl! Soon enough you'll be getting comments like I do from some of our "veteran" HOG members--they'd rather ride with me than some of the guys in the club that think they can handle a bike! (OK, so maybe they just like the scenery better...but I'd rather keep thinking that it has something to do with my riding accomplishments-LOL)

Ms. BB before you know it you will be telling us of rolling over 5,000 miles on your bike.

Waiting to see where else you went.

CoNgRaTs!!! Well did you go back home or did you ride a while? We got our first snow here in oHiO so it may be a while before I am out again. Makes me jealous.

Wow. That really brought me back. George Herbert Walker Bush was in office when I took my first solo ride. The mix of excitement with a little pang of fear make a very unique cocktail that you only really get to drink (and savor) one time.

I'm glad you enjoyed yours.

Ride safe, and Ride on...

I remember sitting in my garage on my bike with the engine running and being afraid to let the clutch out. Finally I told myself that I was acting stupid and let 'er rip. Never looked back.

Jokers right. You never get to experience that first rush again. Glad you enjoyed yours.

Woo Hoo! Way to go girl! I remember my first solo ride. I got kind of giddy when I realized I wasn't just following Harley, I could actually decide on my own destination. If I wanted to turn here... I did! If I changed my mind and wanted to go there instead... I did! Woo Hoo! Liberating!

Another first! Congratulations!

Well...I guess you don't need me anymore to kick around. I sorta miss you keeping my back warm for me.

"I'm as free as a bird now, and this bird you can not change"

I guess if you hang around then it was truly meant to be. If you take off on your motorcycle then I'll know what happened.

Awesome! But what is scaring me is when you came back from the garage party you are already talking about putting a 1200 and efi on your bike. Next thing I know you will be sneaking my bike out.

Thanks all! Well by the time I dinked around on the computer and got something to eat, Dave was off so I putted around with him for a bit then remembered I had to go to a parent teacher conference. Oopps.
But the weather is supposed to hold up this week, so I'm thinking I will go out on my own for a little bit before the end of the week. Don't worry Dave I still like to have you to kick around, but hey, where did you say you leave your keys?

Willy- I'll let you know about the leading part. :)
